The microphone doesn’t give you a voice,

It amplifies it.

Its tempting to wait for the mic to be in our hands to start speaking.

We imagine that because we have no audience

That we have nothing worthwhile to say.

So we wait.

But we may find ourselves waiting forever

Or having nothing to say when the mic is passed our way.

Its important to remember that the platforms at our disposal are transient,

But the stories of our lives are continuous

And there will still be art to be made, patients to be seen

Lives to be touched and causes to be fought for

Whether or not the rest of the world get to see and hear it.

And if  we happen to get a mic, then its a bonus.

Coz then we’re a sharing an honest snapshot of the ongoing stories of our lives.

Mic check.
