Being a victim does not absolve one of responsibility to strive to be a better person, nor does it take anyone off the hook for doing the hard work of making any relationship work.
Whether or not we are the (obvious) perpetrators of wrong, we too need to repent of our own sins and be accountable for our actions.
There is a thin line between running with our own version of justice and rushing into the footsteps of those who once oppressed us.
A thin line between speaking up and merely complaining,
Between taking a step back to protect ourselves and neglecting our duty to contribute
A narrow gap between revolution and rebellion
And an even shorter space between calling out challenges in our environment and making excuses for our own apathy.
These lines are narrow,
Be wary lest you cross.
