Involves seeing value where others do not see it,
Finding supreme value in the Unseen,
Delighting in the Love you’ve always craved.
This Christian life
Saves us from loving things that cannot love us back as we need it,
And from making gods out of people who cannot save us.
For in Christ we have found something ultimately valuable.
A person on Whom we can lean the full weight of our burdensome humanity,
To find the strongest arms and the purest heart in the universe.
In Him we have found an agenda and a way of life
Far superior to our own.
Transcendence, Grace, Forgiveness, Mercy.
For those who don’t see it;
It is foolishness. It is excessive. It is self-depreciating. It is senseless to assign Him so much value.
But for those who have seen the treasure hidden in the field,
It is worth impoverishing yourself outright to gain riches that you cannot lose.
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. 45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
