While our God may not always prevent injury
He is always at hand to care for the wound.
He debrides the damaged tissue,
Cleaning out the site of injury.
He applies a healing balm;
A salve for my broken body.
He sutures my flesh together,
One intentional stitch at a time.
Yes, I will heal
But there will remain a scar,
An embedded memory of the trauma,
A reminder of the fragility of our existence.
Finally He wraps the wound in gauze and bandages
And tells me to rest.
To stay close and regularly return to my Physician
Lest my wound becomes septic
And my troubles multiply.
While it hurts that we must live through perilous times
It’s encouraging to know that God is a specialist in wound care,
He sits with us in the darkness
And binds us up.
Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.
Jeremiah 17:14
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3 –
