Envying Scarcity

Its unfortunate
That selfishness
Feels so good.
That self-worship
Feels like self-care,
That small mindedness
Is often the most convenient kind of thinking,
That the low ambitions
Of the corrupt
Look like the good life,
That we say “That’s just the way it is”
About problems we could actually solve,
That we secretly envy
Our bullies because they are powerful,
Unfortunate that
Many of the people
That championed advancement
Also championed exclusion,
That a world built around
Scarcity
Makes so much sense-
Until it doesn’t.
Unfortunate that we learn
Too late (If at all)
That there was enough
For everyone to prosper
After all.
