Emotional Apparatus

As a man,
I find it hard to cry.
Not because I think tears
Are beneath me,
Nor that I think that somehow the natural fluid
The fleetingly emanates from my eyes
Is inherently
I just don’t have have
The emotional apparatus
To draw from the deep emotional well where tears live,
At will.
For me, the waterworks need a lot of
Hence, I don’t cry often.
And that’s a shame.
Because there’s a certain kind of freedom
That comes with a wet face and a running nose-
Its as though a dark cloud
That has been swirling over my head
Is finally broken-
Making me whole.
