Throwing Money

Is easier

Than having a meaningful conversation

About change.

Our failures

To make something significant

For the least amongst us

Don’t stem from a lack of resources

As much as they do

From a lack of intentionality.

Our lack of motivation to apply

Disciplined imagination

To solve the social problems

That plague us

Nudges us towards

The easy and the obvious

Which do little to shift the status quo.

We can never pay enough money

To undo our apathy.

Long before any cheque is signed

We must learn to figure out

Just what, exactly, the problem is

Whether we are a part of it

And whether we are willing

To do what it takes

To actually change

The order of things.
