When you’re a rookie,
Aiming for a project that’s the
‘Best in the class’
Is probably not the best goal to have.
To focus on process
Rather than the praise you’re hoping to get
Is a more reliable north star.
And if you must procrastinate
Do so productively,
Let your mind never stop gathering data
Even if you’re far from your books,
And be sure to have a pen ready
For you never quite know
Which whispered thoughts
That scurry across your mind will bear fruit.
The journey is long
And the answers are evasive
But even if you don’t find
Exactly what you’re looking for,
The fact that you’ve documented your steps
Will make your path valuable
To someone else.
Take a deep breath..
And do the work.
