It turns out anger is pretty
Satisfying to keep around.
It fortifies your moral high ground
And distinguishes you from the riffraff
Who have no opinion.
And people take you more seriously
When you’ve really perfected it,
Maybe even decorated it
With a touch of sarcasm.
Oh and how delightful resentment is,
I can’t seem to get enough of it.
It reminds of a time
When the world was simply divided
Into friends and enemies-
It helps me to always know
Who the real bad guys are.
Fury is our national pastime
We love to hate our neighbor
Because it helps us feel safe.
It’s a pity that
Anger is wrecking our lives
Because there isn’t much else
That many of us feel as entitled to.
