Is not an occasion
For your own.
Not much good
Has ever come from two stubborn people
Each being well aware of the need for
Reconciliation
But each saying to the other
‘’You first’’.
Humility hurts only for a moment
For once pride has been swallowed
It almost invariably gives way
To a kind of freedom
Lightness of heart
And purity of spirit
That comes from not letting the choices of others
Determine your own.
Despite how gratifying it feels
Holding onto your pride
Is almost never in your best interest.
There aren’t a lot of hills
Worth dying on
And the views up there
Aren’t all that great-
Haven’t you had enough?
