The role of your tribe

Is not to coddle you
Or to smother you with affirmation
Or medicate you out of a sense of
Your own personal responsibility.
Indeed its not only strength
That one find in numbers
But also a place to hide-
To escape
To lick your wounds
And moan about your lot in life.
But if your tribe is any good
They will catch you
Before you fall off the precipice
Of a lesser life,
Lift you up from the pit of despair
And self sabotage,
Serving as sturdy signposts
In the whirlwind of modern life
That point you towards
True North.
