Borrowed hope

When your legs won’t lift anymore
And your heart grows weary of leaping
When your wallet runs empty
And your hunger threatens to consume you
When your faults grab you by the nose
And demand compensation
When motivation distances itself from you
And the will to go on becomes increasingly foreign
When you find you do not have
The internal resources
To keep up the fight against despair,
It is precisely then
That you learn
That the practice of hope is not a solo sport
That it doesn’t cut it to try muster it from within
To manufacture it of your own volition
As though it can always be churned out at will-
No,
Sometimes you’re left so empty within
That to make it the distance
The hope you’re going to need
Is gonna have to be
Borrowed.

for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance

Philippians 1:19
