What do the dawn
Fresh dew
And a new marriage
Have in common?
New things are precious
Precisely because they are new.
Nothing stays still for long
On God’s green earth-
Not time
Not circumstance
Not the very planet itself.
Each day brings something new
Every minute irrevocably different from
The one before.
A storm eventually yields
To a new calm,
Peaceful streams flow gently
Until they cascade into mighty waterfalls.
Newness is something worth
Reveling in
Delighting in
And basking in
For its own sake.
Resist the temptation
Of only valuing things
Once they’ve stood the test of time-
The early days have
A peculiar kind of gold of their own,
Blessed are the ones who can simply marvel
At the new treasure
Sitting in their lap.

‘’Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭19‬ ‭ESV
