But its true.
Not every feeling
Not every thought
Is who you really are.
Or at least,
Who you always have to be.
Our mental landscape
Is in part given to us
And in part made by us-
The series of narratives
That you have become so accustomed to
Are not necessarily the whole of who you are.
The scenes in your mind
Don’t always have to end
The way they always have;
Noticing the same flaws
Being caught up by the same hangups
Stuttering through the same sentences.
Your story can change.
Your experience of your mind so far
May not be all that’s available to you..
It may take a few visits
To rock bottom
With a poorly crafted story
To come to terms with the need
For something different,
To escape the toxicity
Between your own ears
And knowing deep down
That there has to be something better.
It is this realization
That may just be the necessary stimulus
To your evolution.
Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,
prisoners in affliction and in irons,
for they had rebelled against the words of God,
and spurned the counsel of the Most High.
So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
they fell down, with none to help.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
and burst their bonds apart.
Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
For he shatters the doors of bronze
and cuts in two the bars of iron.
